Here are the rules :).
GREEN HUNTER UNDER SADDLE: AQHA Rule 466A (p. 216-217 -- 2009 AQHA Official Handbook Of Rules And Regulations):
(a) The purpose of green hunter under saddle is to allow a horse to compete on an entry-level field with horses of the same level of experience. The green hunter under saddle is a stepping-stone to the more advanced level of competition with seasoned horses. This class should be judged according to the purpose of its intent.
(b) Horses must be ridden with equipment that is approved as per AQHA equipment rules for hunter under saddle.
(c) With the exception of eligibility requirements, the same rules apply in green hunter under saddle as apply in hunter under saddle.
(d) Horses eligible to compete:(1) Horses in their first year of showing in AQHA-approved shows in hunter under saddle.
(2) Horses that have shown during previous years in AQHA-approved green hunter under saddle, open hunter under saddle, amateur hunter under saddle or youth hunter under saddle, but have not won more than 10 points or won more than $1,000 in these events as of January 1 of the current year. Points from all divisions will count and are cumulative in determining eligibility. Novice points will not count.(e) Green hunter under saddle will not be held as a World Show class.
GREEN TRAIL: AQHA Rule 454A (p. 191 -- 2009 AQHA Official Handbook Of Rules And Regulations):
(a) The purpose of green trail is to allow a horse to compete on an entry-level field with horses of the same level of experience. The green trail is a stepping-stone to the more advanced level of competition with seasoned horses. This class should be judged according to the purpose of its intent
(b) Green trail will be judged on the performance of the horse over obstacles with emphasis on movement, smoothness in gaits and transitions and willingness to execute the maneuvers with a willing attitude. Horses shall be penalized for artificial apperance over the obstacles.
(c) The course should be designed for the entry-level horse. Ample space should be used to execute the obstacles.
(d) Horses, regardless of their age, may be ridden with one hand and a standard western bit as approved by AQHA equipment rules or with two hands and a snaffle bit or bosal as describer under AQHA equipment rules.
(e) With the exception of eligibility requirements, the same rules apply in green trail as apply in trail.
(f) Horses eligible to compete:(1) Horses in their first year of showing in AQHA-approved shows in trail.
(2) Horses that have shown during previous years in AQHA-approved green trail, open trail, amateur trail or youth trail, but have not won more than 10 points or won more than $1,000 in these events as of January 1 of the current year. Points from all divisions will count and are cumulative in determining eligibility. Novice points will not count.(g) Green trail will not be held as a World Show class.
GREEN WESTERN PLEASURE: AQHA Rule 465A (p. 214 -- 2009 AQHA Official Handbook Of Rules And Regulations):
(a) The purpose of green western pleasure is to allow a horse to compete on an entry-level field with horses of the same level of experience. The green western pleasure is a stepping-stone to the more advanced level of competition with seasoned horses. This class should be judged according to the purpose of its intent.
(b) Horses regarless of thier age, may be ridden with one hand and a standard western bit as approved by AQHA equipment rules or with two hands and a snaffle bit or bosal as described under AQHA equipment rules.
(c) With the exception of eligibility and equipment requirements, the same rules apply in green western pleasure as apply in western pleasure.
(d) Horses eligible to compete:(1) Horses in their first year of showing in AQHA-approved shows in western pleasure.
(2) Horses that have shown during previous years in AQHA-approved green western pleasure, open western pleasure, amateur western pleasure or youth western pleasure, but have not won more than 10 points or won more than $1,000 in these events as of January 1 of the current year. Points from all divisions will count and are cumulative in determining eligibility. Novice points will not count.(e) Green western pleasure will not be held as a World Show class.
GREEN WESTERN RIDING: AQHA Rule 453A (p. 179 -- 2009 AQHA Official Handbook Of Rules And Regulations):
(a) The purpose is to create an entry level division in the western riding discipline that places emphasis on movement and quality of lead change while allowing for leniency in assistance from the exhibitor, while still rewarding softness and willingness. Credit will be placed on smoothness, even cadence of gaits and the horse's ability to change leads preciseley, easily and simultaneously, both front and hind.
(b) Horses regarless of thier age, may be ridden with one hand and a standard western bit as approved by AQHA equipment rules or with two hands and a snaffle bit or bosal as described under AQHA equipment rules.
(c) With the exception of eligibility and equipment requirements, the same rules apply in green western riding as apply in western riding.
(d) The pattern will be selected from either the five regular patterns or the three green patterns.
(e) Horses eligible to compete:(1) Horses in their first year of showing in AQHA-approved shows in riding.
(2) Horses that have shown during previous years in AQHA-approved green western riding, open western riding, amateur western riding or youth western riding, but have not won more than 10 points or won more than $1,000 in these events as of January 1 of the current year. Points from all divisions will count and are cumulative in determining eligibility. Novice points will not count.(f) Green western riding will not be held as a World Show class.
GREEN WORKING HUNTER: AQHA Rule 463A (p. 213 -- 2009 AQHA Official Handbook Of Rules And Regulations):
(a) The purpose of green working hunter is to allow a horse to compete on an entry-level field with horses of the same level of experience. The green working hunter is a stepping-stone to the more advanced level of competition with seasoned horses. This class should be judged acccording to the purpose of its intent. Fence heights shall be two feet six inches (76cm) to two feet nine inches (85cm).
(b) Horses must be ridden with equipment that is approved as per AQHA equipment rules for working hunter.
(c) With the exception of eligibility requirements and heights of the jumps, the same rules apply in green working hunter class as apply in working hunter.
(d) Horses eligible to compete:(1) Horses in their first year of showing in AQHA-approved shows in green working hunter, open working hunter, amateur working hunter, youth working hunter, amateur equitation over fences, youth equitation over fences, open jumping, amateur jumping or youth jumping.
(2) Horses that have shown during previous years in AQHA-approved green working hunter, open working hunter, amateur working hunter, youth working hunter, amateur equitation over fences, youth equitation over fences, open jumping, amateur jumping or youth jumping, but have not won more than 10 points or won more than $1,000 in these events as of January 1 of the current show year. Points from all divisions will count and are cumulative in demining eligibility. Novice points will not count.(e) Green working hunter will not be held as a World Show class.
